A little glimpse into our home...

I thought I'd post some pics of our home, which is a constant money-pit work in progress.  This is our spring table setting...

A favorite corner of the family room.  The hubby doesn't get my love of all things numeric. He thinks I might be insane have a problem...

I'm not sure I dusted before this pic was taken.  I like to think that just adds a little authenticity...

Okay, this is embarrassing.  Clearly my children  housekeeper did NOT dust before this one....

One of the first antiques the hubby and I bought in the early years.  It's one of our favorites, even though we live in a smoke free enviroment and in no way condone any products containing nicotine.

A little sampling of the pillows I've started to sell.  Now I just have to work up the courage set up an Etsy site.  The chair is my first attempt at dropcloth upholstery...I think it does not look too much like it was done by a 5 year old looks okay...

I'm still a tad intimidated by this blog business, especially after my daily visits to my blog idols...who are too numerous to list.  I can only hope to accomplish a fraction of all they do...

Thanks for chatting!

My partners in crime...

I'm still learning this blog "stuff" and let me tell ya...the learning curve is steep for this old girl!   But I hope to have some pics of our home up by the end of the week, as well as some of my pillows.

I wanted to introduce my mom, aka, a partner in crime!  My mom is the one who taught me how to sew when I was a little girl.  She has a great eye for decorating, is very creative, and manages a Beverlys...YAY!  She has been so supportive of me in this endeavor, and is willing to be my business partner!  She will also be contributing to this blog and will be known as the sane one!  ;)  (Thanks Mom!)  We will be attending the Remnants of the Past show in Nipomo this weekend and I'm so excited!  I can't wait to be inspired, find some great treaures and take lots of pictures to share with you!  Bear with me because I just have a simple point and shoot camera...hoping to get a fancy one soon...hint, hint....  ;)

I saved the best for last...my other partner in crime!  He is my rock, my voice of reason, the one who puts up with my perimenopausal insanity ecclectic side.  He has encouraged me from Day One to take this leap.  For years he has told me to put my love of decorating to use and even though he might not always "get it", he is resigned lets me do whatever I want with our home...within reason!

And lest they think I forgot, here is one with our minions adorable children!

This is scary yet exciting!

WOW!  I can't believe I'm doing this!  I discovered the world of blogs about three months ago, when I was looking for ways to upholster a chair I found at our local Hopsice Thrift Store.  When I hit enter, the first site I found was that of Miss Mustard Seed...and I was hooked!  I discovered my love for drop cloths, lust for the elusive chalk paint, and need to recover, refinish, paint, decoupage, anything that dares to get in my way!

I have always loved to sew, but being the mommy of two very active children, wife to a husband who works in law enforcement, as well as holding an emotionally draining 40 hour a week job left me little free time.  I've realized in the last year or so that I really need my creative outlet to help me cope with the stress of my "real" job.  I started making pillows, wreaths, and some other home accessories and found that I was a much happier,  less insane enjoyable person to be around...at least that's what my family tells me!  At the encouragement of my wonderful, supportive husband, mother and daughter, I took some of my things to a local shop, Time Since Remembered, and Ellen wanted to sell ALL of it!  I think she recognized a crazed, frenetic kindred spirit!  I have now worked up enough courage to start an online business, A Little Birdie Told Me, hoping to sell some of my creations.  This is all very new for me, and I have to admit I'm overwhelmingly a tad bit afraid of rejection!  But I have to do this.  I must take this leap.  I want to be an example to my children...if you want something, you have to make it happen!

I'm This blog is a work in progress, and I will be the first to admit that I have NO IDEA what I'm doing!  If you "find" me and are a seasoned blogger, please feel free to offer advice, tips, constructive criticism...anything!  I will be sharing my home, rants, and raves and can't wait to meet you!
